HYDERABAD, JULY 28, 2026: In view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of heavy rainfall across the State over the next two to three days, Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju directed District Collectors to take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience.
The Chief Secretary conducted a teleconference on Tuesday from the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat with District Collectors, Police Commissioners, and Superintendents of Police to review the prevailing weather conditions, the agricultural contingency plan, and the ongoing Vanamahotsavam programme.
Addressing the officials, the Chief Secretary said that while five to six districts have recorded normal rainfall, 26 districts are experiencing rainfall deficit. He stated that, as part of the Agriculture Department’s contingency plan, seed fairs are being organised across the districts. We are fully prepared to provide all necessary assistance to farmers who choose alternative crops.
Referring to the latest IMD forecast predicting widespread rainfall across the State over the next two days, the Chief Secretary instructed all district officials to remain on high alert and ensure close coordination among all departments for effective response and disaster management.
He informed that NDRF teams have been positioned in Bhadradri Kothagudem (Bhadrachalam), Mulugu, and Nirmal districts. Additional NDRF teams stationed in Hyderabad and other major centres will be deployed to affected areas as required.
Principal Secretary Ahmed Nadeem, Secretaries Dasari Harichandana, Surendra Mohan, and other senior officials participated in the teleconference.
