Headmaster Dr. Chakinala Srinivas retires after 34 years of exemplary service, leaving behind a legacy of academic excellence and social commitment
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, JULY 30, 2026: For Dr. Chakinala Srinivas, a government school was never merely a workplace—it was a family, and its students were the centre of his world. As the Headmaster of the Government High School, Sircilla, prepares to retire on July 31 after over three decades of dedicated service, he leaves behind an enduring legacy of commitment, innovation and transformation in public education.
Widely respected for demonstrating that government schools can match the standards of corporate educational institutions, Dr. Srinivas has inspired thousands of students during his 34-year career as a teacher and headmaster. His work reflects the belief that the strength of a school lies not only in its infrastructure but also in the confidence of the community, the commitment of teachers and the aspirations of its students.
Born on July 30, 1965, in Dumala village of Rajanna Sircilla district to Hanumaiah and Narsamma, Dr. Srinivas completed his schooling in his native village and pursued higher education in Sircilla and Hyderabad. He earned a Ph.D. from Osmania University, besides postgraduate degrees in Mathematics and Geography, an M.Com., and an M.Ed., establishing himself as an accomplished academic.
He began his teaching career as a Mathematics teacher at the Government High School, Boath, in Adilabad district on November 17, 1992. After serving in various schools across Adilabad, Karimnagar and Sircilla, he assumed charge as Headmaster of the Government High School, Sircilla, on July 7, 2018.
Transforming a School
When Dr. Srinivas took charge, the school had only 86 enrolled students, with daily attendance often limited to just 31. Through sustained community outreach, door-to-door enrolment campaigns, parent meetings, collaboration with self-help groups, improved teaching standards and enhanced school facilities, he restored public confidence in the institution. Student strength subsequently increased to 322.
Building an Ideal Government School
With the support of alumni and philanthropists, the school witnessed remarkable infrastructure development. A modern computer laboratory with 20 computers, digital projectors in every classroom, CCTV surveillance, a well-equipped library, science laboratory, RO drinking water plant, improved furniture, steel cupboards, sanitation facilities and hand-wash units were established.
For several years, every student received notebooks, school bags, belts, ties, identity cards, shoes, meal plates and T-shirts free of cost through community support. Last year alone, 300 school bags and 20 bicycles were distributed to girl students.
Consistent Academic Excellence
Under his leadership, the school recorded 100 per cent pass results in the Class X Board examinations on several occasions. Students secured distinctions in the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS), INSPIRE Science Awards, national-level Yoga competitions, State-level science exhibitions, sports and cultural events.
Scholar, Author and Curriculum Developer
Beyond classroom teaching, Dr. Srinivas made significant academic contributions as an author and curriculum expert. He contributed to books on Telangana’s water resources, the geographical encyclopedia of Telangana and the comprehensive profile of Rajanna Sircilla district. He also played an important role in developing Telangana State Social Studies textbooks for Classes VI, VII and VIII and served as a member of the Intermediate Geography Subject Committee.
Service Above Self
His dedication to duty is reflected in his exemplary attendance record. Throughout his 34-year career, he availed leave only when absolutely necessary. Notably, from January 28, 2023, to August 19, 2025, he did not take a single day’s leave, dedicating nearly two years and seven months entirely to the welfare of his students.
Championing Innovation
Dr. Srinivas introduced several student-centric initiatives, including summer camps, computer education, spoken English, life skills programmes, science exhibitions, health camps, biodiversity awareness, sparrow nest-making, eco-friendly Ganesh idol campaigns, composting, plastic waste management, energy clubs, kitchen gardens, Haritha Haram activities, digital learning, educational tours, village awareness programmes and alumni engagement, transforming the school into a vibrant learning ecosystem.
Recognition and Honours
His contributions earned him the State Best Teacher Award in 2022. He also won the first prize at the State-level essay competition conducted by the Telangana State Food Commission and was honoured by the District Collector as the Best Headmaster in 2025.
Apart from education, Dr. Srinivas actively participated in social and public causes through organisations such as the Jala Sadhana Vedika, Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika, irrigation awareness movements, teachers’ associations and various community service initiatives.
Though retiring from government service, Dr. Chakinala Srinivas leaves behind an inspiring example of selfless dedication. His journey reaffirms that retirement marks the end of a profession, not of service. His contribution to public education will continue to inspire generations of teachers and students alike.
