
HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 11, 2025: The 54th South Zone Central Revenue Sports Meet 2024-25 was formally inaugurated by the Governor of Telangana Mr Jishnu Dev Varma at the GMC Balayogi Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on Tuesday.
The two-day event is being held on the 11th & 12th of February 2025 and will witness over 1000 participants of the Income-tax, GST and Customs Departments from the 6 southern states and UT of Puducherry, competing in 18 sports disciplines including outdoor & indoor sports and swimming. The sporting events are being held at 6 venues across the city, including the GMC Balayogi Stadium, Gachibowli, RRC Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Secunderabad, Nizam Club, Saifabad, Melgiri Grounds, Moinabad, Game Point, Hitec City and Indira Park Ground, Lower Tank Bund. The tagline of the sports meet is “Taxes Build a Nation, Sports shape its Character”

The Governor of Telangana graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of Mitali Madhusmita, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income-tax Andhra Pradesh & Telangana and Chief Patron, Central Revenue Sports and Cultural Board (‘CRSCB’) and Sandeep Prakash, Principal Chief Commissioner, Central Tax & Customs, Hyderabad and co-patron, CRSCB. Renowned sportspersons MSK Prasad, former cricketer and former chief selector of the Indian Cricket Team and Kidambi Srikanth, international badminton player and Padma Shri awardee were the guests of honour.
The opening ceremony commenced with the march past of the participating contingents led by the school band of Sentia Global School, Hyderabad. The Governor of Telangana received the guard of honour from the participating contingents. Later, the CRSCB flame was lit by Shri Kidambi Srikanth, with the AOC Centre Pipe Band playing mellifluous tunes. The oath of honour was administered to the participants by MSK Prasad. The sports meet was declared open by the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour by releasing tricolour balloons. The event concluded with the national anthem played by the AOC Centre Pipe Band.
The two-day sports meet will conclude on 12th February 2025 with the closing ceremony scheduled at 3:30 PM at the GMC Balayogi Stadium, Gachibowli. Mitali Madhusmita, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income-tax, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana will preside over the function as Chief Guest. Guests of Honour include Ambati Rayudu, former Indian international cricketer and Vardhineni Pranitha, archer and former Indian Olympian.
