Lok Satta Seenanna’s fourth death anniversary: But none to pay tributes to the lone crusader against corruption

KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 15, 2025: As expected, there is no one to pay tributes to Lok Satta Udyama Samstha founder president and former Union Bank of India (UBI) senior manager Naredla Srinivas on his fourth death anniversary, who crusaded against corruption and was in the forefront for social service for several decades in the integrated Karimnagar district and also Telangana state on Saturday.

The lone crusader against corruption, Seenanna, who succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 virus on February 15, 2021, while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Karimnagar town, is neglected a lot by the so-called Lok Satta, Karimnagar Film Society, Karimnagar Consumer Council and other organisations for which he was the founder. None of the organisations had conducted any programme to pay homage to Seenanna on his death anniversary and recollected his services to society.

Lok Satta Srinivas, who was instrumental in the formation of the Karimnagar Film Society and Film Bhavan in Karimnagar town with his contributions and from the philanthropists, was neglected by the Karimnagar Film Society. The Film Bhavan had promised to install the bust-size statue on its premises a few years ago but it remained a distant dream.

Surprisingly, the Karimnagar film society office-bearers, who were chosen by Seenanna when he was alive and continuing till now, are not even showing any regard to the popular social leader by at least paying tributes during birth and death anniversary and fulfilling the promise of installing his statue on the premises.

Ironically, the Film Society members are even opposing the proposal to operate the Lok Satta Udyama Samshta (voluntary organisation) activities from the premises of Film Bhavan to help the society and follow his ideology and footsteps to crusade against corruption.

After the demise of Seenanna, there is no one to question the authorities for their negligent attitude. Had Seenanna been alive, he would have fought against the unscientific execution of Smart City in Karimnagar town which had become a ‘heaven’ for elected representatives with huge commissions and ‘hell’ for the people of the town with the conversion of wide roads into narrow roads, encroachments parks, municipal parks, footpaths, illegal and unauthorized auto-stands and several others issues.

Naredla Srinivas popularly called as ‘Seenanna’ was the lone crusader against the corruption in the integrated Karimnagar district and the Telangana state also. He was remembered for his services to society and for ensuring justice by raising the issue with the concerned officials. He played a role in fighting for the rights of the consumers through the Karimnagar Consumer Council (KCC) and was instrumental in the formation of the Karimnagar Film Society and the construction of the Film Bhavan in Karimnagar town.

He was such a great person that he completed his LLB and LLM education after his retirement as the UBI branch manager only for the cause of society and to update his knowledge about the law and file consumer-related and other public issues cases in the courts. He had never said no to anyone who approached him for justice. He is the real man of the masses and is always concerned about society and their wellbeing.
