Lion Siddula Balakrishna: A Pioneer in voluntary blood donation passes away in Kairmnagar

KARIMNAGAR, DECEMBER 14, 2024: Leaving behind some unforgettable memories, 74-year-old Siddula Balakrishna, a renowned social worker and pioneer of voluntary blood donation in Karimnagar district, breathed his last in Karimnagar town on Friday night while undergoing treatment for age-related ailments.

He joined Lionism in 1973 as a member and rendered his services as club president, zone chairman, district committee chairman, and region chairman ten times. He received several national and international awards for his social service activities in Lionism.

He joined the Indian red Cross Society in 1980 and rendered his services to the IRCS till his last breath. He had brought a reputation to IRCS and brought gold medals to the district on nine occasions. He was also appointed as IRCS state vice president for his social service to society. He also received the award from President Pranab Mukherjee for his valuable services to IRCS.

He was instrumental in setting up a Blood Bank through IRCS in Karimnagar town and an eye bank The blood bank runs on the concept of 100 per cent voluntary blood donation and issues blood and (blood) components free of cost to needy patients.

He was also the Founder of the Association of Alliances Clubs international district 137, Karimnagar. He is also the founder and president of Sri Maha Yogini Matha Manikeshwari Matha service trust in Karimnagar town. He had won accolades for blood donation camps and helping orphanages and higher education of bright and poor students.
