KARIMNAGAR, JULY 21, 2024: Incessant rains since last 48 hours has crippled normal life in different parts of the integrated Karimnagar district in general and Karimnagar town in particular on Sunday forcing the people to remain indoors.
The water-logging was reported in several parts of the town. The electric poles and huge trees were uprooted in various parts of the town. The Karimnagar district reported an average of 52.5 mm rainfall.
Following the rains, the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) has constituted three rescue teams with 64 members to work round the clock. They had opened a call centre to receive complaints from the people (dial 9849906694). Mayor Y Sunil Rao and Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai inspected various parts of the town separately and inspected the rescue operations to avoid water logging in low-lying areas.
On the other hand, small rivulets and streams have started overflowing in various parts of the integrated Karimnagar district. Major irrigation projects such as LMD, MMD, UMD, Sripada Yellampalli and others were receiving copious inflows following the rains in its catchment areas. The agricultural operations by the farming community have intensified by the farmers with the bountiful rains.
