KARIMNAGAR, MAY 26, 2025: Former Mayor S Ravinder Singh has urged Collector Pamela Satpathy to take measures for the reopening of the closed Helipad Park on the premises of the Collectorate for the benefit of the people of Karimnagar town.
In a memorandum submitted to the Collector on Monday, the former Mayor stated that the visionary Collector Debabrata Kanta had developed the Helipad park on the premises of the Collectorate in the year 1999 with three helipads. Later, it was converted into the Centenary Park as part of the centenary celebrations of Karimnagar town, with the MCK installing the playing items for the children, he stated.

Then, Collectors such as Debrata Kanta and Sumita Dawra had developed the Helipad park with lush green lawns and plantations of plants to provide lung space to the people of the town, he stated. However, in the name of the construction of a new Collectorate, the executing agency had dumped the gravel and other construction material on the premises of the Helipad, denying the park facilities to the people of the town since 2021.
On the other hand, the existing Circus Grounds and Multipurpose school grounds were also encroached by the MCK and converted into commercial parks by letting out to the private agencies, denying the place for the people to walk, he alleged. He urged the Collector to take measures for the reopening of the ambitious Helipad Park for the benefit of the people of Karimnagar town by providing lung space and allowing them to walk for a healthy Telangana.
