HYDERABAD, JULY 25, 2024: BRS state president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has made a maiden visit to the Telangana State Legislative Assembly as the Leader of the Opposition party to participate in the Budget session on Thursday.
He was received by the party legislators and MLCs on the Assembly premises. He straight away visited his chambers and later participated in the Budget session.
Reacting on the budget presented by the Congress government, Mr Rao termed it anti-farmer, anti-poor and without any vision. Expressing his discontent, he said the budget neglected all sections of society particularly farmers and the lower classes. He alleged that the Budget lacks any policy for the agriculture, industrial growth, IT policy or any policy for the upliftment of the poor.
Alleging that the government had neglected the plight of the women, the former CM said that the promise of interest-free loans up to Rs.1 lakh crore was not new and that the current budget lacked innovative schemes. “This budget is nothing more than a collection of vague promises without any concrete policy formulation,” he observed.
The BRS president expressed concern over the lack of support for farmers, mentioning the absence of schemes like Rythu Bharosa in the budget. He stated that by criticising the previous BRS government and accusing its predecessor of misusing funds, the Congress government appeared to be planning to discontinue farm investment support to farmers.
“The Congress government has failed to provide any assurance to farmers regarding the purchase of paddy, supply of free electricity, or provision of water. This government deceived both farmers and individuals practising traditional occupations,” he said.
