World Blood donors day celebrated by donating blood
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 14, 2024: A blood donation camp was organised on the occasion of World Blood Donors day by the NSS volunteers of Jyothishmathi Institute of Technology and Sciences (JITS) (autonomous) on the outskirts of Karimnagar town on Friday.
During the camp, 51 units of blood were collected from the NSS volunteers including the girl students by the Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PMS) at Nagunuru on the outskirts of Karimnagar for the children who were patients of sickle cell and Thalassemia. JITS chairman J Sagar Rao lauded the commitment and service of the young NSS volunteers of the college for the cause of society. He appreciated the noble cause of volunteers to donate blood to save lives of patients suffering from Thalassemia.
Speaking after inaugurating the camp, JITS Principal Dr KS Rao lauded the service of the JITS NSS volunteers for serving the society by donating the blood. The blood units collected at the event will be transferred for children with Thalassemia, a blood disorder characterized by lower amounts of haemoglobin, he stated. On this occasion, he said that the NSS volunteers and the students would be always in the forefront to serve the society. NSS coordinators P Pranitha, Rajkumar and G Jagadeeshwar and representatives of PIMS hospital were also present.
