
Since January 2024, the DCA officials registered cases against 147 quacks in the Telangana state
WARANGAL, FEBRUARY 20, 2025: Officials of the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a quack’s clinic in Warangal and seized drugs stocked for sale worth Rs 10,000. Since January 2024, the DCA has registered cases against 147 quacks for the illegal stocking and sale of drugs.
Based on credible information, the DCA raided the premises of a quack/unqualified practitioner, Gaddam Srinivas Urus Warangal, Warangal District, who was conducting clinical practice without proper qualifications at his clinic. During the raid, DCA officials detected 14 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, steroids, analgesics, etc., stocked at the premises without a drug licence.
DCA officials detected several ‘antibiotics’ viz. Gentamycin at the clinic during the raids. Indiscriminate sale of antibiotics, by unqualified persons may have disastrous consequences on the health of public, including emergence of ‘Antimicrobial Resistance’. M. Aravind Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Warangal carried out the raid under the supervision of Dr. G. Rajyalakshmi, Assistant Director, Warangal.
DCA Director-General VB Kamalasan Reddy said the public may report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana Toll-Free Number 1800-599-6969, which is operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days.
