RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 25, 2025: The three-day annual Maha Shivarathri begins on a religious note at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy devasthanam in Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district on Tuesday.
Government Whip and Vemulawada legislator Adi Srinivas formally launched the Maha Shivarathri jatara by offering prayers to the presiding deities at the temple shrine. Later, he inaugurated free bus services for pilgrims at the Vemulawada temple shrine and launched a free breakfast service for devotees visiting the shrine.
On this occasion, Mr Adi Srinivas said that Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar would present silk vastrams on behalf of state government and the TTD priests would also present the silk vastrams as it is a tradition since ages. He said that Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan and other officials were taking all measures for the three-day jatara at the temple shrine and avoid any inconvenience to the pilgrims visiting the shrine. The Government Whip also inaugurated the Exhibition at Jatara grounds in the temple town and inspected all the stalls. The district authorities also opened medical camps for the benefit of pilgrims in various parts of the temple town.
Vemulawada temple shrine also known as ‘Dakshin Kashi’, the temple authorities and district administration along with the police officials had made unprecedented arrangements of pilgrims, who would cross over 4 lakh on the main festival of Maha Shivarathri on Wednesday (February 26, 2025). The temple authorities had spent over Rs 2.03 crore for taking up various developmental works for the success of the Maha Shivarathri jatara.
The temple town has been colourfully decorated with welcome arches, illuminations, beautification of streets and barricading of queue lines. The temple authorities had made arrangements for the sale of over five lakh laddu prasadams and pulihora by opening more counters at the shrine to meet the demand from the devotees.
