
After two decades, a female athlete wins a medal for the first time in the juniors group
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 07, 2026: The Telangana Yoga Players (athletes) have demonstrated their prowess at the 51st National Level Sub-Junior and Junior Yoga Asana Sports championships were held from October 3 to 6 in Jaipur of Rajasthan state.
Kattekol Bhavagna from Medak district has secured a bronze medal in the 12-14 years girls’ category, breaking two decades of history. Similarly, N. Vasavi from Ranga Reddy district, in the age group of 8-10 girls category, finished in fifth place, and another sportsperson from Karimnagar secured fifth place in the 14-16 boys category, according to Telangana Yoga Association secretary-general N. Siddareddy.
Bhavagna, who won the bronze at the national level, was presented with the cash prize by the federation’s chairman Ashok Kumar Agarwal, federation secretary Abhinav Joshi, and CEO Indu Agarwal. The winners were congratulated by the Vice President of the Yoga Federation of India, Jaal Manohar Kumar, the President of the State Yoga Association, S. N. Reddy, the Chairman Sardar Ravinder Singh, and other state yoga association representatives, along with district presidents and secretaries such as Gangadhar from Nizamabad, Gunta Ramakrishna from Karimnagar district and others.

They stated that all the participating athletes displayed good skill as athletes from our state. During the return journey, under the supervision of Railway Protection Force IG Jyoti Kumari Satija, all the athletes were invited and protected as per norms. Under Jyoti Kumari Satija’s supervision, they arranged staff for the athletes and appointed guards to accompany them until they boarded the train they needed to travel in. They also spoke with the staff on the train to ensure the children did not face any trouble.
