KOTHAGUDEM, SEPTEMBER 05, 2024: In a fierce exchange of fire between the Maoists naxalites and Greyhounds police, six naxalites including a top naxalite leader Latchanna were killed and two constables sustained serious injuries at Raghunadhapalem village panchayat of Karakagudum mandal on Thursday morning.
Police source said that during the combing operations, Greyhounds police noticed the movement of naxalites led by Manuguru Area Committee Secretary Latchanna. After noticing the police, the naxalites opened fire. In the exchange of fire, six naxalites were killed including Area committee secretary Latchanna. Two constables sustained injuries and they were being from Manuguru to Badrachalam government hospital.
Manuguru Area Committee secretary Latchanna had recently moved from Chatisgarh state and operating in the Manuguru region.
