Preliminary estimates put loss of Rs 5,438 crore in Telangana state due to heavy rains and floods: Govt

HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 03, 2024: The preliminary assessment by the Telangana state government has estimated that over Rs 5438 crore loss was caused to heavy damages and floods in the state.

The government also stated that 16 people have lost their lives and they were operating 110 relief camps and shifted more than 4,000 people to the camps.

Major damages were reported to the Roads and Buildings department with a loss of Rs 2362 crore, followed by Energy department (damage to electrical installation) Rs 175 crore, crop loss (in 4.5 lakh acres)          Rs 415 crore, Irrigation (repair to minor tanks) Rs 629 crore, Panchayati Raj & Rural Development (incl. RWS) Rs 170 crore, Medical and Health department Rs 12 crore, Animal Husbandry department Rs 25 crore,  Municipal Administration department  Rs 1150 crore and damages to other department and public properties Rs 500 crore.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has appealed to the business community and voluntary organizations to extend support to the flood victims
