RAMAGUNDAM, MAY 06, 2025: NTPC Ramagundam is proud to announce that the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) – 2025 Workshop has been inaugurated on Tuesday under the inspiring leadership of Mr Chandan Kumar Samanta, Executive Director (Ramagundam & Telangana).
This powerful initiative of 28 days is a testament to NTPC’s unwavering dedication to social transformation through education and empowerment. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chandan Kumar Samanta said: “At NTPC, we recognize that empowering girls is not just a noble endeavour; it is an imperative for progress and sustainable development. We firmly believe that when girls are given the opportunity to thrive, they have the power to change the world. They are the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers who will drive positive transformation in our society. Study Kit & Uniforms were distributed to all the girls by dignitaries”.
Rakhi Samanta, President, DMS, all GMS, senior members of DMS, representatives of Union & Associations, CMO, HODs, GEM-2024 selected Girls & their parents were present at the event. A Journey that Began with a Vision Launched in 2018 from NTPC’s stations at Vindhyachal, Rihand, and Singrauli, the Girl Empowerment Mission has grown into a flagship initiative of NTPC, thanks to its overwhelming success and far-reaching impact. Encouraged by the results, the program has been replicated at various NTPC locations across India.
NTPC Ramagundam joined this movement by organising its first GEM workshop in 2019, setting in motion a legacy of change that continues to this day. Empowering the Next Generation The core aim of GEM is to empower young girls, particularly from underserved communities, by giving them access to opportunities, guidance, and holistic development. Since its inception at Ramagundam, the program has positively touched the lives of hundreds of girls, helping them dream bigger and achieve more. This year, 120 bright and deserving girls from nearby government schools have been selected to participate in this 28-day residential workshop. During this month-long journey, they will experience a nurturing environment that builds their confidence, skills, and aspirations. A Holistic Experience. Each day at GEM begins with morning yoga sessions, designed to rejuvenate both body and mind. Nutritious meals ensure their physical well-being, while an enriching curriculum broadens their intellectual and creative horizons.
The programme includes: • Academic Support: English and Hindi grammar, mathematics, science, and computer literacy. • Skill Development: Life skills training, leadership activities, and personality development. • Creative Expression: Dance, drama, art, and other co-curricular sessions. • Physical Confidence: Self-defense training through karate.
These activities are delivered by a team of passionate educators and experts, ensuring that each girl is inspired to recognize her potential. Beyond the 28 Days GEM is not just a one-time workshop — it’s the beginning of a lifelong journey. At the end of the program, NTPC Ramagundam takes a step further by selecting 10 exceptional participants and enrolling them in schools within the NTPC Township. This thoughtful gesture helps create a more conducive learning environment and opens the door to new opportunities for these young girls.
