HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 25, 2025: Woxsen University held its Convocation 2025 on Saturday graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. John P.A. Ioannidis, globally acclaimed Greek American physician-scientist, writer, and Professor at Stanford University, widely recognized as one of the most influential medical researchers of his generation. He is best known for his seminal 2005 paper, “Why Most Published Research Findings Are False”, one of the most cited works in medical science, which fundamentally advanced the global understanding of research reliability and evidence-based medicine. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to science and scholarship, Woxsen University conferred upon Dr. Ioannidis an Honorary Doctorate, marking a moment of immense pride for the University and its graduating students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. John P.A. Ioannidis said, “Human progress is not measured solely by technological advancements or the pursuit of utopian dreams. It is measured by the dignity, responsibility, and value we bring to each human life, and by the choices we make to alleviate suffering and elevate human experience. It is inadmissible that despite our technological revolutions and progress, almost 4 billion people still live on less than $7 per day, and almost 700 million survive on less than $2 per day. Environmental pollution, alcohol, drugs, and preventable diseases claim billions of lives each year, despite advances that could make them avoidable.”
Highlighting India’s remarkable rise in science and global influence, Dr. Ioannidis added, “India stands today as a remarkable example of progress with responsibility. In science, India is already the third most prolific country in the number of annual scientific publications, and at the current rate, it is estimated to overtake the United States by 2029. From scientific achievements to economic expansion, India is demonstrating that growth can be both substantial and meaningful. To the graduates of Woxsen University, your journey does not end today—it begins anew. You have the chance to shape a future where excellence is accompanied by integrity, ambition by empathy, and success by a sense of responsibility toward society and the planet.”

At the convocation, over 800 students from undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across Woxsen University’s schools — Business, Technology, Arts & Design Architecture & Planning, and Liberal Arts & Humanities — were formally conferred their degrees, celebrating their academic and personal achievements.
