World Heritage Day observed at SRR College in Karimnagar

 

KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 25, 2024: An Essay Writing, Quiz and drawing competitions were organised as part of the World Heritage Week celebrations at SRR Government Arts and Science College in Karimnagar town on Monday.

The competitions were conducted under the auspices of Department of Archeology, Karimnagar and College Department of History and Yuva Tourism Club. Speaking on the occasion, Principal K Ramakrishna said that the day was observed to instill among the students a sense of responsibility to maintain culturally and historically important heritage sites of the country.

Assistant Director of Archeology Sagar said that the World Heritage Day is celebrated every year by UNESCO to preserve the cultural and historical sites of the world as heritage. He said we should act to preserve our heritage. “Do not spoil the old buildings by writing your name or spitting on them. We should preserve them for our future generations”, he added.

Head of Department of History V Ramesh said that the purpose of conducting these activities is to make the students aware about the preservation of historical and cultural sites related to human civilization. Yuva Tourism Club Coordinator K
Sudhakar said that the Tourism club members should strive for the protection of ancient heritage sites and ensure that they are clean and safe. IQAC coordinator Harjoth Kaur, Assistant Professors A Ramakrishna, G Rajender, Satya Prakash, Praveena and others were also present. The prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions.
