KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29, 2024: On the occasion of World Heart Day, senior and eminent Physician Dr D Raghuraman conducted a free medical camp to detect diabetes and blood pressure at his clinic in Boyawada in Karimnagar town on Sunday.
Among the 79 persons screened, 17 new diabetes and six BP patients were detected at the camp. They were advised to visit the hospital on Monday to recheck. The camp was conducted in association with Corona Remedies. This year’s theme is ‘Use Heart for Action’.
Dr Raghuraman said that they had conducted the camp for the early detection of diabetes and high blood pressure as they are the major reasons for heart attacks. High blood sugar from diabetes can damage the nerves and blood vessels in the heart, which can increase the risk of heart attack, he said and added that high blood pressure or hypertension increases the force of blood pushing against artery walls, which can damage the artery walls and increase the risk of heart attack. He also advised people to control their cholesterol, stop smoking, eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly.
