

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MARCH 15, 2025: The Department of Commerce of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for women, Shatrajpalli, Vemulawada, Rajanna-Sircilla district, celebrated World Consumer Rights Day and educated the students on the history of World Consumer Day and various aspects of the Consumer Protection Act on Saturday.


Participating as Chief Guest, TG Tribal welfare degree college, Karimnagar, Commerce faculty member Ch Srinivas Yadav said the Consumer Protection Act of 2019 had brought significant reforms to safeguard consumer interests in India. He said the legislation marked a new era in consumer rights protection, addressing contemporary challenges and the fast-evolving marketplace.
He said the main aim of the Act was to provide consumers with better avenues for resolving grievances, ensuring greater accountability from businesses and fostering transparency in consumer transactions.
Principal K Lavanya emphasized the importance of being aware of consumer rights to ensure safety and receive quality products and services. R Uma Devi, Head of the Department of Commerce, encouraged students to spread awareness among their friends and family to protect themselves from unfair trade practices.
The programme saw the participation of Vice Principal B. Sumalatha, ACO Nirmala, Cultural Committee Coordinator S. Sandhyarani, Commerce faculty members K. Sangeetha and N. Sandhya Rani, along with all faculty members and students.
