

KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 10, 2025: The birth anniversary of Bhagwan Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankar – Prophet of Jains, was celebrated with great fervour at Vivekananda Residential School (CBSE) in Karimnagar town on Thursday.

A special assembly was organised in the school where students learnt about the life and noble teachings of Bhagwan Mahavira. The young impressionable minds pledged to live a righteous life and follow the ethical principles of Jainism, including Ahimsa- causing no harm to living beings, Satya- to speak the truth, Asteya – not to posses the things that do not belong to you, Brahmcharya – not to indulge in sensual pleasures and Aparigraha – not to get attached to material things.
The students performed a play centered on forgiveness and kindness. The thoughtfully scripted enactment, reflecting the teachings of Lord Mahavir, portrayed various scenarios of conflict resolution and compassion, resonating deeply with the audience. This creative presentation not only highlighted the students’ talents but also reinforced the importance of these timeless values, as the narrative urged everyone to adopt empathy in their everyday lives.
On this occasion, Advisor to the Managing Committee, Gandra Laxman Rao, conveyed his appreciation for the students and encouraged them to imbibe the virtues of truth and non-violence in their character. Chairman Dr Sudhakar Rao Polasani praised the school’s efforts in promoting cultural and moral education alongside academics, stating that such programs sow seeds of compassion in young minds. Director (Academics) Dr T Lalitha Kumari emphasized that kindness and forgiveness are not just moral values but life skills essential for building a better society. Principal Mrs. Renuka Balivada addressed the gathering with a heartfelt message, reminding everyone that forgiveness is the foundation of peace and growth. Their collective words inspired students and staff alike, making the Mahavir Jayanti celebration a truly meaningful and memorable event.
