KARIMNAGAR, JULY 07, 2025: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has alleged that the HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency) has remained a mute spectator and not taken any action against the encroachments of Hyderabad MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi.
The Union Minister toured various parts of Vemulawada and Jagtial districts to participate in various developmental works on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sanjay alleged that “the HYDRAA was demolishing the houses of the poor in the name of encroachments, but giving exemptions to Akbaruddin Owaisi’s family, who have built buildings in lakes and ponds and are running colleges and businesses there”. The same Hydra authorities claim they cannot demolish illegal constructions in Akbaruddin’s college because 10,000 students are studying there. But why did they demolish small houses and huts built by poor people in the Musi river catchment areas, who have no source of livelihood or shelter?, he questioned.
The Union Minister also lashed out at BRS leaders for reportedly preparing to attack the offices of ABN and Andhra Jyothi just because they published stories against the BRS. He questioned, “When media houses are being attacked, what is the Chief Minister doing? What is the government doing? Revanth Reddy… don’t you have any guts? Weren’t you jailed unjustly and denied bail? Have you forgotten all that and now joined hands with them? Why is KCR’s family, who was involved in numerous scams, including Kaleshwaram and e-Formula, not being arrested and jailed?”
He added, “If strict action had been taken when Maha TV was attacked, today’s situation would not have arisen. The BJP will always stand at the forefront in protecting democracy and press freedom.”
On this occasion, he challenged BRS leaders, “If you have guts, attack ABN or Andhra Jyothi and see what happens. Within two hours of your attack, our BJYM (BJP youth wing) activists will take care of your BRS office and the TV channel in it.”
“HYDRAA Commissioner says action against the illegally constructed Akbaruddin Owaisi college on Salkam Cheruvu land in the Old City would be unjust — this is foolishness,” said Bandi Sanjay Kumar. He asked: “Is this a decision of the state government or the concerned official? Let them clarify.”
“Does Akbaruddin Owaisi have horns? Why should he be given exemptions? Then why were the huts and small houses of thousands of poor people living in the Musi River catchment areas demolished? Aren’t they human? Don’t their lives have value? Why wasn’t even a notice issued to the management of Akbaruddin’s college building? Couldn’t you just serve notice to vacate and say it will be demolished after the academic year ends? Why didn’t you do that? Is only the Akbaruddin family valuable? Don’t the poor matter?”
Owaisi’s men, those who attack constables, are being shielded. If they encroach on government or private land, they are defended. If those with terrorist links are given government jobs, no one speaks out. What sort of law is this? Has HYDRA given exemptions to Owaisi’s properties and misdeeds? Can they just grab land and do whatever they want? The Chief Minister must immediately respond to this.”
