RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MARCH 08, 2026: Soldier in the Indian Army and working as JCO, poet, writer, and translator Peruka Raju has been honoured with the prestigious Ugadi Literary Award in recognition of his continuous and remarkable contributions to literature. The award acknowledges his extraordinary literary service across multiple Indian languages, where he powerfully combines literary creativity with social consciousness.
The Ugadi Sahiti Puraskaram was presented today during a special cultural programme held at Tyagaraya Gana Sabha in Hyderabad. The award ceremony took place in the presence of distinguished personalities, including Rajasekhar, Justice Burugula Madhusudhan of the Supreme Court, Ranjith from Bharata Kalakshetram, Hari, and Peruka Snehith, along with several eminent personalities from the fields of cinema, education, and literature. A large number of youth, students, and literary enthusiasts attended the event.
Peruka Raju, a proud son of Telangana admired across the country, is currently serving the nation as a Junior Officer in the Indian Army. As a national poet, writer, and translator, he has earned recognition for building bridges between Indian languages by harmonising ideas, cultures, and literary expressions.
His writings reflect a unique blend of emotions and experiences — the bitterness of neem blossoms, the tanginess of tender mangoes, and the sweetness of sugarcane. These literary flavours create a nectar-like experience for readers, enriching their understanding of life and society.
Apart from literature, Raju is also actively involved in social service. Intending to support the underprivileged and marginalised sections of society, he founded a voluntary organisation called “My Gift.” His guiding philosophy is: “Encouragement itself is the greatest gift.”
Peruka Raju has received several prestigious honours in the past, including the Golden Bracelet Award, Nandi Award, Sankranti Vishishta Kavi Ratna Award, the Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam International Literary Award, and the International Mother Language Literary Award presented by the Vishwa Sahiti Kala Vedika. Through these recognitions, he has firmly established himself as a significant literary voice at the national level.
