Intensifies electioneering for ensuing MLC elections
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 24, 2024: Y Shekhar Rao, TRSMA State Chief Advisor and contestant from Karimnagar Graduates Constituency for MLC elections, has demanded that the Union government provide Rs 10 lakh health insurance and Rs 10 lakh life insurance coverage to all private school teachers with the Education Cess collected by the government.
Conducting a whirlwind tour of Jammikunta, Illandakunta and Huzurabad mandals on Thursday by visiting various educational institutions and seeking the support of teachers in the ensuing MLC elections from the Karimnagar Graduates Constituency, Mr Shekhar Rao said that the Union government had collected several crores of rupees in the name of Education cess. But, it is not the same for the welfare of the teaching community, he alleged and demanded that the government provide health and insurance coverage to the private teachers. He promised to fight for private teachers’ insurance coverage by agitating against the Union government.
During the outbreak of COVID-19 and lockdown period, he reminded that he as a TRSMA founder member prevailed upon then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to provide 25 kgs of rice and Rs 2,000 financial assistance per month to all the private school teachers in the state and benefitted over 1.82 lakh teachers. As a TRSMA founder member, he had tried to solve problems about the private school teachers, he said and assured to strive for the welfare of teachers and all the graduates if elected as MLC and would remain as their voice in the Legislative Council.
Stating that he was contesting the MLC elections not to make money or protect the properties, he said that he was in the fray only to serve society as he was contesting as an Independent in the elections. He said that there was an overwhelming response to his campaign from all sections of society such as student organisations, teachers, employees, lawyers and others.
He also appealed to the graduates to enrol as voters before November 6 and exercise their franchise in his favour in the elections. He appealed to the voters to give him the first preferential vote in the elections. Kakatiya educational institutions chairman Sudhakar Rao, TRSMA leaders Sampath Rao, Prathap Reddy, Malla Reddy, Vakulabaranam Venkateshwarlu, Komal Reddy, Krishna Reddy, Bathula Raj Kumar, Koteshwar, Madishetty Prasad, Kiran Kumar and others were also present.
