HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 09, 2026: The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE) has suspended the FSSAI licences of five food establishments operating in Hyderabad’s Kukatpally area and ordered them to immediately stop business operations following food safety and hygiene violations. Additionally, one hostel was shut by the authorities for operating without FSSAI licence on Wednesday.
The establishments are Manikanta’s Live Space Luxury Women’s Hostel, Sri Balaji Luxury Men’s PG Hostel, Hotel Sitara Grand, Bake Max Foods Private Limited (Brown Bear manufacturing unit), and Mandi King Arabian Restaurant. These establishments were flagged for heavy cockroach infestation, pest-infested food, fungal contamination in groundnuts, expired food, improper maintained refrigerators, spoiled vegetables and unhygienic premises.
Ten teams from Enforcement Wing of Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential drugs (TG SAFE) consisting of Food Safety Officers and the Police Personnel have conducted a special drive on various food establishments like restaurants, bakeries, sweet shops, hostels etc in Kukatpally area wherein (20) establishments have been inspected on Wednesday.

- Mehfil Restaurant
- Sri Kanya Comfort Restaurant
- Bake Max Foods Pvt Ltd (Brown Bear Manufacturing Unit)
- Mandi Kind Arabian Restaurant
- Kukatpally Mandi
- Bhulakshmi Mess
- Sri Harsha Delux Mess
During the course of inspection, the officials have noticed the following violations in some of the establishments
- Usage of spoiled/contaminated meat and vegetables, which have been discarded on spot
- Cockroach, housefly, and Rodent Infestation
- Unhygienic premises
- Violations in maintenance of records
- Refrigerators being maintained in unclean conditions without proper segregation between veg and non vegetarian foods and labelling of foods and
- Presence of expired food articles and food articles with pest infestation
- Food handlers not maintaining proper hygiene
In view of the violations, the following actions are being taken
- (20) samples have been lifted on suspicion of adulteration
- Spoiled/rotten vegetables and various raw materials like ground nuts, flours, red chillies etc found to be infested with insects/pests were discarded on spot
- GVK New Luxury PG Men’s Hostel found to be operating without FSSAI License/Registration and in violations of Food Safety norms was closed
- Improvement notices will be issued to Sri Mahalaxmi Kendra at Gummadi Foods, KS Bakers, Lakshmi Vengamamba Hostel, Padmavathi Delux Mess, Mehfil Restaurant and Sree Harsha Delux Mess for rectification of the lapses identified during the inspection. The establishments will be revisited to verify the status of compliance with the food safety norms and further action will be taken based on reinspection.
- Show Cause Notices will be issued to M/s Paradise Food Court, Chaitanya Food Court, Bhulakshmi Mess and Godavari Mithai for the violations reported during the inspections, and further action will be initiated for imposing penalties
- The FSSAI Licenses pertaining to the following establishments are being suspended, with instructions to stop the business operations immediately in the interest of public health
- M/s Manikanta’s Live Space Luxury Women’s Hostel for heavy cockroach infestation, food articles with pest infestation, groundnuts with fungal contamination, etc
- M/s Sri Balaji Luxury Men’s PG Hostel for heavy cockroach infestation, food articles with pest infestation, expired food articles, Rodent infestation, unhygienic premises and lack of proper record keeping
- M/s Hotel Sitara Grand for cockroach and rodent infestation, expired food articles, food articles with pest infestation, improper maintenance of refrigerators, etc
- M/s Bake Max Foods Pvt Ltd (Brown Bear Manufacturing Unit) for cockroach and housefly infestation, expired food articles, spoiled vegetables, unhygienic cold storage, etc
- M/s Mandi King Arabian Restaurant for improper maintenance of refrigerators, no proper segregation between veg and non-vegetarian foods, raw and semi-prepared foods, Spoiled vegetables and unhygienic premises
