HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 17, 2026: The Telangana state government has announced a special concession for Muslim employees ahead of the holy month of Ramzan. With the fasting period just two days away, the administration has permitted eligible employees in government service to leave work earlier than usual throughout the month from February 19 to March 20, 2026.
The decision is aimed at helping them manage fasting, prayers and evening preparations associated with the observance. An official order from the General Administration Department stated that Muslim employees will be allowed to leave their offices by 4 pm during Ramzan. The relaxation applies across a wide range of categories. It includes teachers, contract workers, outsourcing personnel and employees serving in boards, corporations and public sector undertakings under the state government. Officials said the early departure is meant to give sufficient time for employees to reach home, prepare for iftar and participate in religious prayers.

The directive covers government offices, educational institutions and state-run bodies. Teachers and staff in schools, along with personnel working in public organisations, can make use of the facility during the fasting month. Authorities clarified that the relaxation is only for the Ramzan period and will automatically end once the month concludes. Emergency duties remain exempt The government also noted that administrative requirements will take priority if urgent situations arise.
