KARIMNAGAR, JULY 18, 2025: Following the directions of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to affiliated schools to establish ‘sugar boards’ to monitor and reduce sugar intake of children, the Alphores e-techno School, Kothapalli, Karimnagar, had set up a ‘Sugar Board’ on Friday.
A ‘Sugar Board’ activity was held in the school to spread awareness among the students about the excessive sugar consumption, said Alphores Educational Institutions chairman V Narender Reddy, on Friday. Students participated in the ‘Sugar Board’ in the school. As part of the initiative, students prepared a sugar board highlighting the importance of monitoring daily sugar intake. They researched and presented the effects of daily sugar consumption, including its link with type 2 diabetes and other health issues. The activity aimed to create awareness among students, teachers and the school community about healthy eating habits and the dangers of high sugar consumption.
“This alarming trend is largely attributed to high sugar intake, often due to the easy availability of sugary snacks, beverages and processed foods within school environments. The excessive consumption of sugar not only increases the risk of diabetes but also contributes to obesity, dental problems and other metabolic disorders, ultimately impacting children’s long-term health and academic performance,” the CBSE said in a letter to school principals.
