JAGTIAL, SEPTEMBER 18, 2024: Students of Government Degree College for Women, Jagtial, celebrated the World Ozone Day to sensitise students regarding global environmental issues on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the students participated in poster-making and slogan-writing competitions. More than 200 students participated in these events, showcasing the significance of the life-saving ozone layer and measures to prevent global warming. The programme was organised by the College Eco-Club.
Faculty explained to the students the small contributions mankind could make to save the ozone layer. Emphasising the importance of the ozone layer, they said that it was an invisible shield that protected us from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiations. World Ozone Day was celebrated this year with a theme ‘Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action.’
Principal K Ramakrishna appreciated the efforts of the students and Eco-club. Eco club coordinator and Professor in Telugu K Malla Reddy, faculty members D Sujatha, N Sangeetha Rani, G Srilatha, N Vasavi, G Neeraja, Naresh, Laxman, Samatha and others were also present.
