

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 23, 2025: To create awareness among the younger generation of the serious health hazards being caused by ‘fast food culture’ and the consumption of food being prepared in unhygienic manner, students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Shatrajpalli, Vemulawada of Rajanna-Sircilla district, organised a natural and nutritious food expo on the college premises on Saturday.


The programme was organised as part of the National Child Day celebrations to educate the students about the importance of consuming nutritious food, including vegetables, fruits, millets, etc. The students displayed varieties of natural foods, all prepared with traditional food grains, pulses, millets, fruits, etc., in the expo, christened ‘Return to Nature’.
The students also explained the importance of consuming natural food and its nutritional values for healthy living without diseases. The students were captivated by the creativity of transforming the leaves into plates, baskets and other artefacts.
Later in the evening, a webinar was conducted by Nutritionist Anitha on the theme of ‘Nourish your body. Elevate your Life. The benefits of good nutrition’. On this occasion, Anitha explained the importance of nutrition in maintaining a healthy body and mind.
Principal K Lavanya informed everyone to adopt healthy dietary habits, including consumption of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and good fats while minimising intake of fast food and high salts. Vice Principal B Sumalatha, Librarian Srilatha, coordinator Ayesha, Soniya, Krishnaveni, Anusha, Arpita and others were also present.
