KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 08, 2026: Students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Nagunur, in Karimnagar town, celebrated Bathukamma, the festival of flowers, with great pomp and gaiety on the college premises on Thursday.
The students, along with the women teaching faculty members, were in their best attire. After offering prayers to the Goddess Gauri, the students and teachers designed the Bathukammas by stacking different varieties of flowers in a conical shape. The students were also enlightened about the importance of Bathukamma festivities and the significance of using various flowers such as tangedu, gunugu, marigold, chrysanthemum, and lotus.
The atmosphere was electric with girls and teachers clad in their best attire and jewellery, singing and dancing around the Bathukammas, the flower formation of Goddess Gauri in her praise with religious fervour and unmatched enthusiasm.

Principal T. Malathi, Vice-Principal S. Padmaja and ACO G. Vasumathi participated in the celebrations and appreciated the students for their active involvement. The programme was organised by the Cultural Committee members B. Deepti and D. Mamatha, in coordination with NSS Programme Officers K. Geetha Rani and V. Ambica. Senior faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students actively participated in the celebrations, presenting colourful Bathukamma arrangements and traditional cultural activities. The programme reflected the spirit of unity, cultural pride and devotion, and created a joyful and festive atmosphere on the college campus.
