RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, SEPTEMBER 14, 2024: Students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Sircilla, have observed World Ozone Day to celebrate the Vienna Convention for the protection of the Ozone layer by planting saplings on their college premises on Saturday.
On this occasion, the Departments of Botany and Chemistry and also the NSS unit organised several activities such as poster presentations and model-making representing the importance of the ozone layer & climate change and how it had been damaged over decades mainly due to human activities under the guidance of the Principal P Srinivasa Rama Lingeshwara Sharma. It was a day to remind students about the significance of the Ozone layer, the efforts at the global scale that have helped on its road to recovery and the need to continuously search for possible solutions to preserve it by eliminating man-made chemicals.
Principal Mr Sharma shared that the day was observed to reiterate to the students that life is not possible on Earth without the ozone layer. Vice Principal K Lavanya, Department of Botany HoD Deepthi Reddymalla, Department of Chemistry HoD Nirmala Hrudaya, NSS programme officer V Swapna, faculty members Ayesha Fathima, G Arpitha, G Anusha, G Swapna and others were also present.
