Students made aware of drug addiction at GDC Eturunagaram

MULUGU, MARCH 27, 2024: The Government Degree College, Eturunagaram, organised an awareness seminar to create awareness among the students about the detrimental effects of drug abuse at the seminar hall of the college on Wednesday.

The college NSS wing and Department of Chemistry organised the seminar which was presided over Principal Mr G Chinna, Additional SP, Eturunagaram division, Mr Mahesh Babasaheb Geete, participated as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, the Additional SP said society needed to collaborate with the police to eradicate the demand for drugs. He also talked about the police’s success in breaking the supply chain of drugs and urged the students present at the seminar to unite and eliminate drug demand. He said that the drug addiction was a big illness and leads to cancer and mental agony to the family members.

Encouraging the youth to steer clear of drugs, he said that the youth may become vulnerable to peer pressure and fall into the trap of drug peddlers. He urged the students to distance themselves from such people and seek police assistance if necessary. Eturunagaram CI N Raju, SI Gaddam Krishna Prasad, NSS programme officer Mr Singh, HoD Chemistry M Vijayalakshmi, faculty members T Ramesh Kumar, B Renuka, B Naveen, Kanin Fatima, Jyoti, Venkataiah, Sampath, Suresh, Munni, Srdhar Sangeetha, Bhaskar Suresh, Srinivas, Vidyarthi, AO Umarani and others participated in the programme.
