KARIMNAGAR, NOVEMBER 27, 2024: Students of Satavahana University College of Commerce and Business Management, Karimnagar, celebrated ethnicity as they came sporting ethnic attire to celebrate the ‘Ethnic Day’ on Tuesday
They came wearing sarees, lehnga cholis, phulkari suits, salwaar kameez, punjabi suits, kurtis, sherwanis, kurta pjamas and dhotis to celebrity the ethnicity of different regions of the country as well India dresses as a whole. The students participated in Rangoli competitions to decorate the premises and tying of mango leaves and flowers.
University Vice Chancellor Prof U Umesh Kumar launched the celebrations by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Speaking on the occasion, the VC congratulated the students and the faculty members for celebrating the tradition and heritage. The Ethnic day is being celebrated to value the ethnicity and importance of the soil and region one is part, he added.
Earlier, the students celebrated the traditional Bonalu and Bathukamma festivities on the university premises. The students of M Com first year celebrated Ugadi festival, M Com second year students celebrated Diwali, Sankranthi and Christmas, the MBA first year students celebrated Vinaya Chavithi and the MBA second year students celebrated Bonalu and Dasara festival.
The VC participated in the breaking utti (handi), Shammi puja as part of Dasara rituals and lighting the Ravana dahan. Of course, there was sumptuous feast with over 200 varieties of Telangana dishes and snacks prepared during various festivals. Registrar M Varaprasad, Principal Harikanth, Management HoD Manohar, faculty Tirupati, Krishna Kumar, Manoj, Naresh, Parashuramulu and others were also present.
