KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 11, 2025: ​Secondary Grade Teachers Union (SGTU) State president K. Mahipal Reddy along with a team of leaders met with Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar and submitted a representation regarding various issues in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
​Key Demands Presented:
​Exemption from TET: Grant exemption from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for in-service teachers.
​Promotions based on Common Seniority:
​Facilitate promotions for B.Ed. and D.Ed. qualified teachers based on Common Seniority.
​Provide opportunities for promotions to Primary School Head Masters (PS HM) based on Common Seniority.
​Unified Service Rules: Address and resolve the issues related to the unified service rules.
​Teacher-Student Ratio:
​Ensure one teacher for every classroom in primary schools.
​Reduce the teacher-student ratio.
​Voting Rights for MLC Elections: Grant voting rights to all teachers working in primary and upper primary schools for the Teachers’ MLC (Member of Legislative Council) elections.
​Amendments to RTE Act: Introduce necessary amendments to the Right to Education (RTE) Act.
​Minister’s Response:
​The Minister, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, assured the delegation that he would bring these issues to the attention of the Union Education Secretary and the Union Minister of Education.

​Those who participated in the meeting included SGTU State Leader Kariveda Mahipal Reddy, Karimnagar District Leader Ookanti Vijender Reddy, District In-charge Devishetti Anjaneyulu, and the Presidents and General Secretaries of the erstwhile Karimnagar district unit.
