KARIMNAGAR, JANUARY 03, 2026: Social reformer and educationist Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary was celebrated with great enthusiasm under the aegis of the Department of Life Sciences and National Service Scheme (NSS) at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Government Arts and Science College (Autonomous), Karimnagar, on Saturday. The occasion was observed as Telangana Women Teachers’ Day.
The programme was organised under the leadership of Thirukovela Srinivas, Head, Department of Botany and Controller of Examinations. Kadaru Surender Reddy, State General Secretary of the Government Degree College Lecturers’ Association, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and paid floral tributes to the portrait of Savitribhai Phule.
Addressing the gathering, Kadaru Surender Reddy highlighted the invaluable services of Savitribai Phule towards women’s empowerment, education of the marginalised, Dalits, and oppressed sections of society. He emphasised that the present generation of women and youth should imbibe her courage, determination, and spirit of service.
Speaking on the occasion, T Srinivas stressed that women should excel in all fields and achieve empowerment not only in education and healthcare but also in the science and technology sectors.
The programme was attended by Kiranmayi Kamadri, Head, Department of Zoology; faculty members Routhu Radhakrishna, Mohammed Taher Hussain, Padala Tirupathi, Kandukuri Kalajyothi, Bunga Thirupathi, Asampalli Swaroopa Rani, and Mohammed Tajuddin. M.Sc. Botany students and NSS volunteers actively participated in the event.
