RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, JANUARY 08, 2026: Sankranthi festivities begin early at the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, located at Shatrajupalli in Vemulawada town, in a grand manner under the joint aegis of the Cultural Committee and NSS (National Service Scheme) on Thursday.
The event brought the essence of rural harvest traditions. On this occasion, Rangoli competitions, Mehendi, and hairstyle competitions were organised, in which the students participated with great enthusiasm. The entire college was filled with a festive atmosphere as students created colourful rangolis with attractive designs. Later, Bhogi bonfires were lit, and students traditionally celebrated Sankranti by placing ‘Gobbemmas’ in the Rangolis, singing folk songs, and enjoying various cultural activities.
The programme was graced by College Principal K Lavanya, Vice Principal B Sumalatha, Academic Coordinator S Sandhya Rani, Staff Secretary G Rajini, Cultural Committee Coordinators B. Poolamma and G Swapna, NSS Programme Officer V Swapna, along with teaching and non-teaching staff and a large number of students, who actively participated and made the event a grand success.
