KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10, 2024: Residents of Padmanagar and other localities in Karimnagar town have staged a dharna in front of the Karimnagar Dairy aka Karimnagar Milk Producer Company Limited demanding the management to take measures to reduce the pollution being emanating from the dairy on Tuesday.
Under the leadership of Municipal councilor Bonala Srikanth, the residents participated in the dharna programme. They alleged that the residents at the vicinity of the town have been suffering from various health ailments due to the pollution being emanating from the dairy. The utensils were also being spoiled after washing with the pollutant water.
They charged that the ground water was completely polluted with the total dissolved solids (TDS) reaching dangerous level of 300 ppm and causing skin disorders to the people. The smoke from the chimney and the ash was entering the houses and affecting the children and elderly people as it was being scattered in the locality.
Later a delegation led by the municipal councilor met Dairy MD P Shankar Reddy and urged the management to take measures to reduce pollution from the dairy. The dairy authorities informed the delegation that they were taking all measures to reduce the pollution and treating the sewerage at the STP on the premises of the dairy and reusing the water for plants.
