
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 05, 2026: A two-day state-level workshop titled “Bio-Confluence–2026: Exploring Biodiversity, Ethnobotanical Heritage and Biotechnological Tools for Sustainable Food Systems” will be organised by the Department of Botany, SRR Government Arts & Science Degree College (Autonomous), Karimnagar, on October 7 and 8, 2026.
The workshop is being organised as part of the Academic Empowerment Programme – A-100 Days Initiative for Government Degree Colleges, under the aegis of Satavahana University, Karimnagar.
The workshop poster was released by Prof. Umesh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Satavahana University. Prof. Satish Kumar (Peddapally), Registrar, Satavahana University, and Prof. Sri Ranga Prasad, Coordinator, Academic Empowerment Programme, Satavahana University, were present on the occasion.
From SRR Government Arts & Science Degree College (Autonomous), Prof. Tirukovela Srinivas, Head of the Department of Botany, Controller of Examinations and Convener of the Workshop, participated in the poster release programme. Padala Thirupathi, Assistant Professor and Organising Secretary of the Workshop, along with Routhu Radhakrishna, Satish and Ande Bunga Thirupathi, also participated.
The two-day workshop will focus on various aspects of biodiversity conservation, ethnobotanical heritage, the significance of medicinal and food plants, modern biotechnological tools, sustainable agriculture, and the development of sustainable food systems. Experts from relevant fields will deliver lectures and share their knowledge and expertise with the participants.
The organisers stated that there is an increasing need to integrate local plant resources, traditional knowledge and modern biotechnology for biodiversity conservation and the development of sustainable food systems.
The main objective of the programme is to provide modern scientific knowledge to faculty and students of Government Degree Colleges, strengthen their research orientation, and create greater awareness about biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
The Academic Empowerment Programme – A-100 Days Initiative of Satavahana University is aimed at strengthening academic capabilities and promoting innovative scientific thinking, research skills and sustainable development awareness among faculty and students of Government Degree Colleges. The organisers expressed confidence that the workshop would contribute significantly towards achieving these objectives.
