Over 2.20 crore voters exercised their franchise in 17 parliament constituencies in Telangana state

Highest 76.78% of votes polled is in Bhongir P.C. and lowest is in 48.48% in  Hyderabad P.C.

HYDERABAD, MAY 15, 2024: A total of 2,20,24,806 voters have exercised their franchise out of a total of 3,32,16,348 voters in all the 17 parliament constituencies in the Telangana state.

In an official release, Telangana state Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj said that the voting was conducted smoothly, peacefully and without any major untoward incident for 17 – Parliamentary Constituencies for HOP, 2024 and to the Bye – Election to the 71 – Secunderabad Cantonment (SC) Assembly Constituency.

The CEO a total of 2,20,24,806 voters out of 3,32,16,348 electors have participated in voting, which is 66.3% of the total electorate.

Out of 2,20,24,806 voters, 2,18,14,035 voters cast their votes at 35,809 Polling Stations and 2,10,771 voters exercised their franchise in Voter Facilitation Centers, Postal Voting Centers and Home Voting.

Out of 2,10,771 voters above, 1,89,091 electors on election duty and 21,680 voters have participated in voting at their homes and at Postal Voting Centers. That 65.67% of votes polled at Polling Stations is almost 3 % more compared to voting in HoP, 2019. The highest 76.78% of votes polled is in 14 – Bhongir P.C. and lowest is in 48.48% in 09 – Hyderabad P.C.

The highest poll percentage of 84.25% is recorded in 37 – Narsapur Assembly Segment of 06 – Parliamentary Constituency and lowest of 42.76% is recorded in 58 – Malakpet Assembly Segment of 09 – Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency.

In terms of numbers, highest 3,85,149 votes are polled in 43 – Medchal Assembly Segment of 07 – Malkajgiri Parliamentary Constituency and least number of 1,05,383 are polled in 119 – Bhadrachalem Assembly Segment of 16 –Mahabubabad Parliamentary Constituency.

The CEO said intensive efforts put in by election machinery has resulted in people voting enthusiastically resulting in higher voter turnout, though the 3 voting day was preceded by holidays and was in peak summer. However, voting in Hyderabad and surrounding areas was less compared to rest of the state.

He informed that adequate measures were taken due to inclement weather besides taking precautions to mitigate the effect of summer heat by arranging shade and medical camps at polling stations.

Besides election officials, help of volunteers of N.C.C. & N.S.S. were utilized to assist and guide voters at polling stations and also special arrangements were made for ease of senior citizens & PWDs voters.

The CEO, Telangana expressed his thanks to the voters and administration in conduct of smooth, peaceful and incident free elections, without any re – poll at any P.S. in entire state. All polled material including EVMs are sealed in the presence of Observers/contesting candidates /election agents and stored safely at strong rooms, which is under constant monitoring by CCTV & armed forces.

The counting of all polled voter will take place on 04.06.2024 at 34 counting locations in the state under cover of CCTV in the presence of counting observers, contesting candidates, election agents and counting agents. Training is planned for counting staff to ensure smooth conduct of counting process.
