
HYDERABAD, JUNE 06, 2025: Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad, an industrial unit of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, celebrated NFC Day-2025 on 6th June 2025, commemorating the first nuclear fuel bundle production, way back in June 1973. For this year’s celebrations, renowned Scientist Dr. R. B. Grover, Member, Atomic Energy Commission & Former Principal Advisor, DAE was the Chief Guest and Dr. S.V.S. Narayana Murty, Chairman & Managing Director, MIDHANI, was the Guest of Honour.
Former Chief Executives of NFC, and retired senior Officers of NFC, dignitaries from M/s ECIL, M/s MIDHANI, AMD, NCCCM, BARC, Representatives of Unions & Associations took part in the function, apart from employees of NFC. The function was held at Dr Homi J Bhabha Convention Centre in DAE Housing Colony.

Dr. Komal Kapoor, Distinguished Scientist and Chief Executive, NFC, narrated the significant developments in the year 2024-25. NFC, while making the nation self-reliant in nuclear fuel fabrication, is seen to excel in the implementation of automation & mechanisation in the thrust areas of fuel fabrication; development of state-of-the-art equipment, while continuing to meet the set annual production targets for 2024-25. NFC continued to play a pivotal role in extending its services to strategic sectors of Defence and Space with a supply of sophisticated & critical components. NFC had also completed several of its augmentation projects during the year.
Chief Executive, NFC informed that the prestigious project “NFC-Kota” has achieved physical progress of about 96% and in the project for production of 65 TPY of fuel tubes and 500 TPY (2 x 250) of nuclear fuel, the facilities related to fuel tube production were inaugurated in March 2025 and production commenced with the available resources. Further, one module to produce 250 TPY of nuclear fuel is also in the last leg of commissioning, having required regulatory clearances, is expected to be commissioned by the end of the year.
The Chief Guest expressed that the contributions of NFC in leading the Country towards the goal of “Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” is very significant, and NFC shall continue to surpass its achievements year after year towards meeting the mandate of the Department of Atomic Energy. The Guest of Honour acknowledged the efforts of NFC and expressed his happiness at the mutual collaboration between MIDHANI and NFC in varied fields of expertise.
Chief Executive, NFC offered respects to the former Chief Executives and other seniors who played a remarkable role in building NFC to what it is today and lauded employees to work with more vigour and strength to deliver the given mandate. “NFC Highlights – 2025” magazine was released on this occasion.
