Marks Milestones of Excellence in Energy, Sustainability, and Community Impact
RAMAGUNDAM, NOVEMBER 14, 2024: NTPC Ramagundam on Thursday celebrated its 47th Raising Day in grand fashion, marking a significant year in the station’s illustrious history. This milestone coincides with two other remarkable achievements: the 40 years of Unit 1 operational excellence and NTPC’s 50 years of pioneering leadership in the Indian power sector.
This will be three days celebrations from November 14 to 16, 2024, which will include laser show, drone show and grand cultural events. The Raising Day celebrations started with Morning Walk from Main Shopping Complex, PTS in the leadership of Mr Kedar Ranjan Pandu, RED (South) & ED (R&T) followed by Flag Hoisting, Balloon release and cake cutting ceremony at Admin Building Lawn. The event saw senior leaders, including all GMs, HOHR, Babar Salim Pasha, Central NBC Members, senior members of DMS, representatives of unions & all employees.
World Quality Pledge was also observed virtually in the leadership of KS Sundaram, Director (Projects) by all the employees. NTPC, India’s largest power generation company with an operational capacity of over 76 GW, is celebrating 50 years of excellence in the power sector. NTPC Ramagundam, as a key pillar in NTPC’s network, has contributed significantly to this success.
Key Milestones & Achievements:
- Unit 7 Continuous Run: NTPC Ramagundam’s Unit-7 achieved an outstanding 430+ continuous run, marking the second-highest ever streak in NTPC units, a testament to the plant’s operational efficiency and maintenance excellence
- DCS Completion Record: The plant also set a record with the successful completion of DCS for Unit 1 in just 25 days, reflecting the team’s exceptional commitment and operational prowess.
- Expansion & Sustainability: NTPC Ramagundam continues to grow, with the recent addition of Telangana Plant (2×800 MW), dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024. Further expansion is already in progress, with Phase 2 (3×800 MW) set to begin shortly.
- Renewable Energy Initiatives: With a growing footprint in renewable energy, NTPC Ramagundam now boasts India’s largest 100 MW Floating Solar Project. The plant is also advancing a total of 176 MW in ongoing renewable projects and has undertaken several environment-friendly initiatives, such as converting its township to net-zero and planting over 10 Lakhs trees in 40 years.
- Community Impact through CSR: NTPC Ramagundam’s sustained efforts in Community Social Responsibility (CSR) have transformed the lives of thousands of people in the region. Over the last three years:
- 78,781 students have benefited from educational initiatives like building classrooms and providing digital education.
- Over 155,500 people in 105 villages have accessed medical facilities, including hospitals, blood banks, and regular mobile health camps.
- More than 204,500 people now have access to fresh drinking water.
- 225,000 people have benefited from solar streetlights and solar grids, lighting homes and enhancing quality of life.
