
HYDERABAD, APRIL 19, 2025: A national Conclave on Insolvency & Bankruptcy Laws, hosted by the NALSAR University students of LLM-IBL a few days ago, drew appreciations for the themes and meticulous planning.
The National Conclave on Insolvency & Bankruptcy Laws (NCIBL) 2025 was conducted as a means to increase the discussion around Insolvency and Bankruptcy, an area of law which is becoming more crucial with every passing day. NCIBL invited papers from students, legal professionals, insolvency professionals, academicians, and other industry experts, which gained great traction, with the team receiving over 150 abstracts for selection.
Out of these abstracts, around 60 were selected and invited to present their papers on the broad themes of: 1. Emerging Trends and Practical Challenges in the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code Regime 2. Personal, MSME &Sector-Specific Insolvency 3. Cross Border Insolvency 4. Banks & Financial Institutions Insolvency, and Role of ARCs in Insolvency Framework.
The event also scheduled panel discussions on these themes which saw the presence of eminent professionals as speakers and attendees from various parts of the country. The inaugural ceremony of NCIBL 2025 was graced by the presence of Mr. Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman, Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, Mr. Sumant Batra, President of Insolvency Law Academy, Mr. Rahul Madan, Managing Director of the Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI and Mr. Jitesh John, Executive Director of Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India.
The inaugural ceremony also bore witness to the signing of a MoU between the Insolvency Law Academy and NALSAR University of Law for the furtherance and development of discourse and discussion on insolvency and bankruptcy laws. The Valedictory Ceremony, which featured the announcement of the best papers and paper presenters of the event saw the presence of Adv. Anant Merathia, Managing Partner of Anant Merathia and Associates, ex-judicial member NCLT, Mrs. Suchitra Kanuparthi and Mr. Hari Hara Mishra, head of the Association of ARCS representing the 27 ARCS of India.
The winners were awarded by the dignitaries. The success of NCIBL was marked by the enthusiastic participation of more than 200 attendees from diverse backgrounds across the country, both online and offline. There was significant engagement from students, insolvency professionals, and other industry experts. The Conclave was supported by the Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI as part of Continuing Professional Hours for Insolvency Professionals. This student-driven initiative also received recognition from the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Board of India. The event was further strengthened through the generous support and encouragement of institutional stakeholders such as True IPE Insolvency Professionals LLP.
