NALGONDA, SEPTEMBER 09, 2026: The Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Prof. Khaja Althaf Hussain, highlighted that Kaloji Narayana Rao’s ideology, which tirelessly challenged social inequalities, injustice, and tyranny through his writing, serves as a valuable guide for the current generation.
He urged the youth to develop the courage to support the people and question societal issues while embracing social responsibility. Speaking as the chief guest at a programme organised by the Department of Telugu on Telangana Language Day celebrated in honor of Kaloji Narayana Rao’s birth anniversary on the MGU campus, Prof. Althaf emphasized Kaloji’s lasting contributions to the language, culture, and dignity of Telangana.
He encouraged students to draw inspiration from Kaloji’s life and movements as they progress into the future. Attending the programme as the special guest, Registrar Prof. Koppula Anji Reddy informed students that Telangana Language Day was established in the separate Telangana State as a form of protest against the historical mockery of the Telangana dialect, often associated with villainous film characters before the formation of the State.
He recounted how Kaloji’s literary works, particularly “Naa Godava,” symbolized a significant public protest. Prof. (Retd.) Ganta Jalandhar Reddy delivered a lecture, discussing Kaloji’s philosophy, upright lifestyle, and his resistance against exploitative rulers. Teachers of the Department of Telugu Dr. C. Anita Kumari, Dr. Maddirala Satyanarayana Reddy, and Gangadhara Narasimha also contributed their insights during the event. Earlier in the program, Vice Chancellor Prof. Khaja Althaf Hussain honored Kaloji Narayana Rao by garlanding his portrait.
