KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 14, 2024: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for women in Nagunuru on the outskirts of Karimnagar celebrated National Librarians Day on Wednesday.
College principal T Malathi, Vice principal G Samatha, Librarian S Padmaja and faculty members R Lalitha, Shankaraiah, K Geetha Rani and others paid floral tributes to the portrait of Father of Library Science Dr SR Ranganathan, on the occasion of his 132nd birth anniversary and who spearheaded the library development in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Malathi highlighted Dr Ranganathan’s invaluable contributions to the field of library sciences, emphasising their relevance in today’s educational landscape. She also emphasised the importance of libraries as temples of learning within academic institutions and discussed the evolving role of libraries in the digital age.
Later, the college conducted the student council elections for the academic year 2024-25.
