SIDDIPET, OCTOBER 30, 2026: The School of Agriculture, Kaveri University, organised an expert interaction programme with Dr. Bipin Kumar, Scientist, Division of Agronomy, ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, on Friday (October 30, 2026), at the university campus.
The programme aimed to provide B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students with valuable academic exposure and insights into higher education, research opportunities and diverse career prospects in agricultural sciences.
During the interaction, Dr. Bipin Kumar emphasised the importance of setting clear career goals, initiating career planning at an early stage and developing the necessary skills to excel in the agricultural sector. He elaborated on various career opportunities available to agriculture graduates, including teaching, research and development, government scientific services, agricultural extension, banking, agri-startups and entrepreneurship.
He also provided valuable guidance on competitive examinations such as Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Senior Technical Officer (STO) and Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), besides discussing opportunities available after postgraduate education.
Dr. Bipin Kumar highlighted the significant role of young agricultural graduates in addressing emerging challenges in agriculture through innovation, scientific research and sustainable agricultural practices. Special emphasis was laid on career planning for third-year students, encouraging them to identify their areas of interest, strengthen their competencies and prepare systematically for higher education and professional opportunities.
The interaction was highly informative and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members of the School of Agriculture. The session provided students with a broader understanding of career pathways in agriculture and motivated them to pursue their academic and professional aspirations with clarity and confidence.
The programme was organised under the leadership and guidance of Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Kaveri University, whose emphasis on academic excellence and student development provides an enabling environment for such knowledge-sharing initiatives.
