KARIMNAGAR, FEBRUARY 20, 2026: In a move aimed at preventing the spread of hepatitis B among vulnerable groups, the department of medical and health of Karimnagar has launched vaccination of Hepatitis B vaccination programme to cover all high-risk groups and healthcare workers employed at government hospitals in Karimnagar town on Friday.
The decision comes in view of the increased risk of hepatitis B infection among groups such as patients suffering from Thalassaemia and haemophilia, individuals undergoing dialysis, intravenous drug users, cirrhotic patients, close contacts of hepatitis B patients, and healthcare workers who face occupational exposure.

The vaccination programme was formally launched by DMHO Dr Venkata Ramana at Mothazkhan Urban Health Centre in Karimnagar town on Friday. Additional DMHO Dr Sudha, District Immunisation Officer Dr Sajida, District Assistant Health Officer Dr Rajgopal, PO DTT Dr Umasri, PO MHS Dr Sana Juveria, Urban health officer Dr Imran, Supervisor Baig and others were also present.
