WARANGAL, FEBRUARY 10, 2026: Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal and Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra, Warangal, organised “International Pulses Day” grandly on Tuesday.
R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, Central Telangana zone, who participated as the chief guest, spoke about how pulses are useful in providing nutrients and proteins in our daily life and also that their cultivation makes the soil fertile. But gradually, the cultivation of these in our country is decreasing, and we will have to depend on other countries for our needs.
A. Vijaya Bhaskar, Coordinator, Telangana Rythu Vigyan Kendra, Warangal, speaking on the occasion of International Pulses Day through a “PowerPoint Presentation”, said that pulses are the “backbone” of sustainable agro-food systems and that “nurturing soils and people” – pulses are essential for a green future. “Healthy soils, healthy environment, healthy people, healthy planet”, he suggested. As part of this program, several farmers who are growing pulses and getting high yields were felicitated. In the “Cooking Competition” organised as part of this program, the students were felicitated, and certificates of appreciation were given to the students for the various dishes prepared with pulses.

In this programme, several leading scientists, Venkat Reddy, A. Vijaya Bhaskar, Rukmini Devi, Poshadri, Agricultural Research Station, Agricultural Scientists, and Farmers were informed about new varieties and modern methods of growing pulses. On the occasion of International Pulses Day, pulses were distributed to orphans and the poor. In this program, Warangal and Hanumakonda district agricultural officers, agricultural scientists, r.a.w.e.p. students and farmers participated in large numbers and made it a success.
