International Anti-Drugs Day observed at GDC Gambhiraopet

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, JUNE 24, 2024: International Anti-Drug Day was observed by Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet mandal in Rajanna-Sircilla district, by message of making the nation drug-free on Wednesday.

Under the aegis of college NSS unit, department of Chemistry and Prohibition and Excise department, College principal V Vijayalakshmi appealed to the students to desist from drugs and other narcotic substances. She said that drugs are the reason behind many major problems of the country such as deadly diseases, unemployment, etc, if it is eradicated then all these problems can also be ended. She also enlightened the students about drugs and narcotic subjects cause harm to the health of a person and mentally disturbs through damage to brain and nervous system. She said that the possession or use of drugs by the students in the college premises is prohibited.

Excise Inspector M Srinivas said that if the students are found to be using drugs, they will be sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of six months to five years and will be disqualified for any government jobs in future.  “If the whole country makes efforts to end drugs, then it is not very difficult to eliminate drugs and the future of the younger generation will be bright and secure”, he pointed out. Vice Principal P Dasu, NSS programme officer Paka Dharmapuri, WEC cell convener Vani, Excise department officials Raju, Kishore, Radhika Goud Lavanya, teachers Shravan, KV Bikshamaya, Manohar, Krishna Prasad and others participated.
