Karimnagar DCCB felicitates Ponnam Prabhakar, who launched his political career as DCMS chairman and APMarkfed chairman
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 28, 2024: The cooperatives are bridge between the government and the farmers and general public, said Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar.
Assuring to redress all the grievances pertaining to the cooperatives, he said that he would strive to strengthen the cooperatives keeping apart the politics. He also assured to strive to get more funds from the Union government for the strengthening of the cooperatives in the state.
The Karimnagar District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB), which had conducted its 103rd general body meeting on Friday, invited Mr Prabhakar to the meeting as belonged to the cooperatives and KRIBHCO Director since 2005 onwards. NAFSCOB and DCCB chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao and other directors, CEO, PACS chairpersons felicitated Mr Prabhakar, who launched his political career from cooperatives and become the Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Prabhakar said that “I planned to become DCCB chairman after becoming single window chairman in 2005. However, the government had appointed him as DCMS chairman and later APMarkfed chairman. I launched my political career from cooperative sector and had become MP and now the Minister after being elected from Husnabad assembly segment”.
Recollecting his association with then Chief Minister YS Rajashekhar Reddy, he said that YSR transformed the Markfed by allocating huge funds. He said that the Congress government was instrumental in strengthening PACS by making them purchase maize and paddy from the farmers and also sell the fertilizers to the farmers. He said that the cooperatives means the farmers and handloom weavers also and added they were taking all measures to handlooms in the state.
DCCB chairman Ravinder Rao said that he had launched his political career along with Ponnam Prabhakar in the year 2005 with the cooperative sector as DCCB chairman. He reminded that Mr Prabhakar had informed us to purchase shares in KRIBHCO worth Rs 5 crore and now the PACS are reaping riches with good dividends. He recollected that he along with Prabhakar were instrumental in launching the sale of fertilizers through cooperatives in the year 2008.
