HYDERABAD, MAY 27, 2026: Eminent poet, writer, multilingual scholar, and Indian Army soldier Peruka Raju has been selected for the prestigious “Vishwavikhyata Sahitya Shiromani Award – 2026” in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to literature.
The award was presented today at a grand ceremony held at Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University in Hyderabad, organized on the occasion of the 103rd birth anniversary celebrations of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao on Wednesday.
Peruka Raju has earned wide appreciation for his powerful literary works rooted in social consciousness and human values. Coming from a humble labourer and farming family background, he is currently serving as a Junior Officer in the Army wing of India’s Defence Department. Alongside his professional service to the nation, he has emerged as a distinguished national poet, lyricist, author, translator, and multilingual literary personality who bridges cultures and emotions across various Indian languages.
Apart from literature, Raju is actively involved in social service. With a vision to support the poor and underprivileged, he founded the voluntary organization “My Gift”, which works with the guiding principle: “Encouragement itself is My Gift.”
In the current year alone, Peruka Raju has received nine prestigious awards and several recognitions for his literary and social contributions. He is also widely known for writing regular columns in English newspapers, thereby expanding literary awareness and intellectual discourse among readers.
The honour bestowed upon Dr. Peruka Raju stands not only as recognition of his literary brilliance, but also as a symbol of national values, social responsibility, and cultural unity. During the event, his inspiring literary address deeply moved the audience. He dedicated the award to “every human being who lives with the truth of humanity.”
The grand event was attended by film producer Bikku Naik, industrialist Raja Shekhar, actress Anuradha, Vice Chancellor Malla Reddy, Lions leader Dr. Ranjith, along with eminent literary personalities, film celebrities, academicians, artists, students, and youth representatives. Cultural performances organized by RK Kala Foundation added grandeur to the celebrations.
On the occasion of receiving the “Vishwavikhyata Sahitya Shiromani Award,” literary friends, admirers, members of “My Gift,” people from his native village, and military colleagues expressed immense joy and congratulated Peruka Raju on this remarkable achievement.
