
HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 09, 2025: The Ministry of AYUSH has begun the countdown to the 2nd WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine (17–19 December 2025, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi), following a Curtain Raiser held on 8 December 2025 at the National Media Centre, New Delhi.
As part of this initiative, the National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD), Hyderabad, CCRUM, Ministry of Ayush, held a press meet to brief the media on the Summit. The Summit will focus on the theme “Restoring Balance: The Science and Practice of Health and Well-Being”, with participation expected from over 100 countries to promote evidence-based integration of traditional medicine into national healthcare.
A side event titled “Ashwagandha: From Traditional Wisdom to Global Impact” will highlight scientific evidence and global perspectives on this key medicinal plant.

India’s leadership in Traditional Medicine continues to be strengthened by the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
The press briefing was addressed by Dr. Najeebul Hasan, Director, NRIUMSD, in the presence of senior faculty Prof. Arzeena Jabeen, Prof. Qamar Uddin, and Dr. Rajaram.
